In general, desilter is the third stage solid control equipment to treat the drilling fluids. That is a centrifugal device for removing very fine particles, or silt, from drilling fluids to keep the amount of solids in the fluid at the lowest possible point. Degasser is a device used in drilling to remove gasses from drilling fluid which could otherwise form bubbles. It is necessary to install a drilling fluid vacuum degasser for their removal from the drilling fluids since the invading gases may impact mud properties, cause safety risks and affect the lifespan of some equipment.


Vacuum type is the most common form of degasser. It can be horizontal, vertical or round vessel. A vacuum action is created to pull in the gas cut mud.
