KOSUN Vertical Centrifuge Uses Centrifuge Force to Dry Drilled Fluid

The Vertical Centrifuge (VC) is a continuous screen type centrifuge with automatic feed control designed for liquid-solid separation. The Vertical Centrifuge is designed to recover the liquid phase of the drilling fluid from drilled solids by exposing the latter to very high centrifugal acceleration forces which improve fluid separation from the drill cuttings. By further clarifying the costly liquid phase which can be returned to the active drilling mud system, the machine helps save money on the expensive drilling fluids. Often shaker screens get clogged and, as a result, expensive mud is lost overboard. The Vertical Centrifuge system catches any lost mud and returns it to the active mud system. The recovery systems work well with diesel, mineral and synthetic oil based mud.

KOSUN vertical cuttings dryer uses centrifuge force to dry drilled solids in oil or synthetic base fluids. A stainless steel screen bowl traps “wet” solids and accelerates them up 900 RPM. Liquid is forced through the screen bowl openings, while “dry” solids are extracted by the angled flights attached to the cone, which rotate slightly slower than the bowl. Tungsten carbide protects the flights from abrasive solids and ensures long operational life. This aids in maintaining a constant gap between the scroll and screen bowl, which is crucial for proper operation.
