The Vertical centrifuge gives operators a critical advantage in meeting increasingly stringent environmental rules for cuttings proposal. The Vertical Centrifuge improves overall cost-efficiency by recovering costly drilling fluid that is recovered from cuttings, as well as whole mud lost from shale shaker failure and rig motion. Further, the Vertical Cutting Dryer produce lower waste volume by generating dryer solids in both oil and synthetic-base drilling mud system. The reduced waste volume can in the turn dramatically reduce disposal cost.
Wet cuttings enter the vortex at the top of the unit and fall into the inner separation area. The conical screen basket within the unit rotates, producing an increasing G-force as the cuttings are forced downward and outward of up to 360 times the natural gravitational force (G-Force). As associated mud separates from the cuttings under the induced gravitational forces within the unit, the openings in the screen allows recovered fluid to pass through and exit the unit.
The vertical cuttings dryer improves overall cost-efficiency, producing reduced amounts of extremely dry cuttings for disposal and recovering valuable fluid for reuse. It is effective with water-, oil- and synthetic-base drilling fluids. Offshore and onshore projects where the recovery of valuable drilling fluid from cuttings, as well as recovery of whole mud lost from shaker failure, rig motion and screen blinding are priorities.
