Shale shakers are the primary solids separation tool on a rig. After returning to the surface of the well, the used drilling fluids flows directly to the shale shakers where it begins to be processed. Once processed by the shale shakers, the drilling fluids is sent into the mud tanks where other solids control equipment begin to remove the finer solids from it. The solids removed by the shale shaker are discharged out of the discharge port into a separate holding tank where they await further treatment or disposal.

      

Drilling fluid shale shaker is the first solids control equipment for the whole solids control solution system used in oil& gas drilling, CBM, HDD, environment protection and petrochemical as well as drilling waste management.Shale shakers are components of drilling equipment used in many industries, such as coal cleaning, mining, oil and gas drilling. They are considered to be the first phase of a solids control system on a drilling rig, they are used to remove large solids also called cuttings from the drilling fluids, more commonly called “ mud” due to its similar appearance.

Oilfield drilling shale shaker is the device that removes drill cuttings from the drilling fluids while circulating and drilling. There are many different designs and research into the best design constantly ongoing since solids control is vital in keeping down costs associated with the drilling fluids. The basic design consists of large, flat sheets of wire mesh screens or sieves of various mesh sizes that shakes or vibrates the drill cuttings. Commonly, in shale shaker, the drilling fluids flows across and off the screens and back into the drilling fluids processing system which is often called a mud system. This separates the drill cuttings, often called solids, from the drilling fluids so that it can be recirculated back down the well bore.
